Adaptive reuse and repurposing of existing buildings is a cost effective sustainable initiative that often requires existing HVAC systems to be reapportioned with external ductwork. Exterior ductwork is exposed to extreme environmental conditions that reduce both heating and cooling capacities through solar heat gain in the cooling season & conductive heat loss in the heating season.
Super Therm®’s patented blend of ceramic compounds have the ability to prevent, reflect and block 95% of surface heat load from being absorbed; therefore not allowing heat to be absorbed by the surface it is covering. Typically, through the application of Super Therm® the surface temperature of conventional roof surfaces are 20-50% lower, resulting in energy savings with ROI’s of less than 2 years.
Protecall uses RMI’s Garna-Flex full waterproof membrane to completely seal the entire duct preventing air and moisture from prematurely deteriorating the steel, which is common when traditional insulation is used. Garna-Flex also seals all seams with a monolithic urethane that expands to allow for movement, expansion and contraction to occur without breaching the seals.
